NAWR ABERTAWE: Sound system

Crowdfunder to raise money for NAWR ABERTAWE to purchase Sound equipment (PA, Mixer, Mics, Graphic Equaliser and Guitar Amplifier).

We would be very grateful if you could give a small amount or a lot of money to help us purchase this sound equipment.

We have been putting on experimental music gigs in different venues in Abertawe / Swansea for the last 10 years. On average we put on around six concerts a year at the Tangled Parrot shop with one mini-Festival at Ty Tawe in November. Our audience is fantastic, adventurous and often travel from different parts of Cymru to attend our events. We rarely have funding for our regular concert series and operate primarily on door money.

All the door money goes towards the artists, for their fee, travel and accommodation and towards the hire of a PA. Owning our own PA and live sound equipment will mean that more of our future door money will go directly to the artists. We organise these concerts on a completely voluntary basis and we do not take any of the door money ourselves.

We aim to spend the £2,000 on the following equipment:

·      Mixer, power amp and rack case

·      Speakers and speaker-stands

·      Graphic Equaliser

·      Microphones, mic stands and leads

·      Guitar amp

To maximize the impact of the funds raised, we will practice responsible financial management by prioritizing the purchase of second-hand items when possible.

More about us: NAWR ABERTAWE is a concert series in Swansea of new, experimental and improvisation music. Our concerts (71 to date) are often held at the Tangled Parrot record shop, Abertawe. We have also programmed our concerts, at venues such as Tŷ Tawe, BBC Hall, Volcano Theatre, Mission, Elysium and Glynn Vivian Galleries. We aim to offer a welcoming, open and reflective space for an audience to experience new music with a gender-balanced line-up. Since we began ten years ago, we have strived to position Welsh (or Welsh based) musicians and composers alongside renowned international practitioners. We are excited to be working towards our 5th NAWR festival called Gŵyl NAWR 2026 in November 2026.

NAWR ABERTAWE is co-organised by Rhodri Davies, Ioan Humphreys, Henry Hobson, Fern Thomas a Nia Davies.
