Three highly individual performances from three women who have chosen their own unique musical paths.
Sonia Hammond ...
has improvised in many venues including Cafe Oto in London to the rooftops of Timbuktu after graduating from Birmingham School of Music and the Royal College of Music. With her classical hat on she freeelances with Orchestra de Cymru , Brecknock Sinfonia and St Woolos Sinfonia alongside smaller groups. from Sound Book Project creates soundscapes using books as instruments.
Interacting with books in a new and surprising way, suddenly the books will trigger sound by the turn of a page. The books speak for themselves. The books will be wound, sprung, strummed, slapped and thrown and a soundscape will evolve around the performers.

creates elemental tapestries from her strings, voice and loop pedal – experimental folk offerings on the spectrum of grief and joy, woven with wild nature, magic and threads of Welsh language.
She has performed across Wales and with the late Sianed Jones in their bass viol & voice duo Tinc y Tannau, formed after they shared a job playing and singing with the RSC.
Here Ailsa will share some new viola da gamba ramblings on this ancient 7-stringed instrument, bridging past and future in her unique song and live improv.
