Celebrated percussionist Eddie Prévost turns 80 this year and is marking the occasion with a tour, including NAWR in Hay on Wye on Thursday 29th September.
Prévost both founded and then remained a key performer in the well-regarded improvisatory ensemble AMM (1965-1972). Collaborations since then have included composer/ performers Cornelius Cardew, Evan Parker and John Tilbury. He is credited with starting the London Workshop, which has fueled gigs at Cafe OTO and inspired similar improvisatory workshops around the world. Prévost will be performing with Silvan Schmid (trumpet), Richard Scott (viola) and Tapiwa Svosve (alto saxophone).
Kindly supported by Pro Helvetia, Schweizer Kulturstiftung and Kanton Zürich Kultur.
NAWR members Dan and Rose Linn-Pearl (guitar and violin, of Peiriant) and Ellis Green (synthesisors) have come together as an improv act called NAWR band to play the support slot for the occasion.
